Judith Geppert, Australia- Feb 2011
In February 2011, I left Australia on a holiday to celebrate my 60th birthday with two friends Davina and Brian. I had always wanted to visit this part of the world.
My stay in South Africa will live in my memories forever! Thank you, Judith

Gunmai, Kent & Magnus, Sweden - Feb 2011
Thank you for a wonderful trip in South Africa.
We enjoyed very much the safari and the time in CapeTown in your very nice guest house.
Magnus loved the safari and is very satisfied that he could see ”the big five” and so many animals. Your truck was ideal for a person in wheelchair and because it was so high we got a very good view.
Alfie and Charles where very helpful and made the trip to a success.
The guest house is an ideal place to stay for disabled people with the large space in the rooms, tastefully decorated and with your great breakfasts and your kindness. I hope it will be a success for you.
We have over 800 photos to look at so we will remember this trip for a long time.
As I said I think we will come back another year and stay at your guest house and then attend the garden route trip and perhaps some other trips too. |

Ruud (return client :) and daughters Roos & Nine Rynbeek, Holland- Nov 2010
Highlights:
------ Nine: Jessica the Hippo
------ Roos: Stroking the cheetah
------ Ruud: the elephants at Tshukudu at Sunset
This was a very, very cool vacation we all liked it. You are really in the bush and very close to the animals. And Alfie and other people are very good in explaining a lot of things about the animals. We learnt a lot. We also like the houses were we slept. A really African interior and it was wheelchair friendly. And the food was really nice! Alfie cooks fantastically and he helps you a lot.
In 3 words: A GREAT HOLIDAY!!!
|
|
Debbie & Colin Carroll, UK - Nov 2010
Highlights: Spending time with such lovely people an see so much amazing wildlife
We have been on some wonderful holidays but nothing compares to this. The whole system worked perfectly, from the minute we were met a the airport, the welcome, the accommodation, the wildlife we saw, the places we visited and the wonderful people we met and hopefully will stay in touch with long after the holiday ends. The most amazing encounters with king cheetah, caracal and lion at such close range will stay with us for ever. Alfie was so organized & efficient and his food was great.
|
|
Sandra & Keith Narey, UK - Nov 2010
Highlights: for both of us meeting and interacting with the cheetahs was amazing
The whole tour start to finish was brilliant. Alfie is a great tour guide and the way he deals with the handicapped members of the group is fantastic. The Kruger Park game drives were great. We saw Wild-dog, Lions, Elephants, White Rhino, Warthogs, a Lion with kill, Hyena with cubs, Giraffe, Buffalo, and the list goes on. The second part of the tour was spent at Tshukudu where we spent the time on game drives and interacting with different animals like the cheetahs and took a tour to see the leopard and lion which was amazing. Tshukudu camp itself is a beautiful place. The lodges are wonderful as is the setting! *EXCELLENT*
|
|

|
|
Jan & Hanneke van der Linde, The Netherlands - Nov 2010
Highlights: An elephant pushing over a tree, a baby elephant almost entering Tshukudu coming to check me (Jan) out in my wheelchair!
*Very good organisation / planning * Perfect holiday to take your mind of things * Peace and quiet during the night time on Tshukudu was great / no traffic noise or what so ever * Make one of the vehicles accessible for game drives in Tshukudu with ramps * Ideal mixture of people in the group just like it should be, disabled and able bodied persons * Cheetah walking / caracal petting

Joyce & Peter Buckman, UK:
To say we enjoyed our safai is an understatement, it was fantastic. We saw over 30 different animals inc. big 5. The disabled facilities for joyce who is a full time wheelchair user were excellent. We also visited sabine and alfies B & B which again offers 1st class facilities for disabled travellers visiting the cape area. Alfie, a big hug and thanks for a really memorable holiday. Joyce and Peter

Christine & Oliver; UK, Netherland:
Dear Alfie,
Sorry it has taken me nearly tow weeks to let you know what a fabulous time Oliver and I had in Cape town. You were a fantastic guide, in hindsight I wished I had booked our safari with you. NEXT TIME. I am pleased we got to met your lovely wife and delightful son. I wish I could afford to come back in October. I gave my Spanish cousin your details but she had already booked her holiday in Kenya. Hope all goes well with the world Cup.Love, Christine and Oliver

Gloria & Lawrence, Italy:
Laurence and I had a great time, we didn't really know what to expect but I would have absolutely no hesitation in booking another Epic tour in the future. Alfie is extremely knowledgeable and informative, in fact the game drives conducted by him were the best and the ones where we saw the greatest number of animals.
He is also good at repairing vehicles, which is definitely an advantage when you are in the middle of nowhere, not to mention that he can put together a tasty meal for a group in no time. I haven't actually seen him doing the washing up, though. Thank you Charles! All in all I'd say we had good fun, it's been a great experience and the truck and the accommodation were clean and comfortable.
Thank you! Ciao, Gloria

Also thanks for the lovely food to which David enjoyed them and he is not eating much at home now!!! Hope the the rest of the gang enjoyed Capetown. We’d love to go there but maybe one day. Jessica & Francois, South Africa:
Thank you so much.. We had such an incredible honeymoon, and it ended on the best note we could have dreamed for, when we bumped into Alfie and his group. That was really special! And we learnt from Alfie too, with his no nonsense way of making things possible. Please be sure to send our best regards and thanks to Alfie.
Jessica and Francois
|
|
Ad & Tineke, Netherland:
We had a wonderful time in the Kruger national park and Tshukudu game reserve with Alfie... But, most important of all, Alfie had a sharp eye for possible risks and unobtrusively took simple steps to keep us safe...
|
|
Patrik Svensoon, Sweden:
Before my trip to South Africa I was a little anxious about that it might be too hard for me but I was completely wrong about that. I have always been interested in nature, environmental problems and exotic species and one of my dreams was going on safari. After one week in Kruger park, Blyde river canyon I have both fulfilled my dreams, learnt a lot of South Africa, endangered species and have had a really god time together with Alfie, Josh and my travel friend Lars. My intention is to return as soon as possible.
Patrik from Sweden
|
|
Ian & Hazel White, UK:
Highlights of the stay were stroking a wild cheetah and hearing her purr, walking with a young lioness, feeding a hippopotamus and going to a rehabilitation centre where animals are cared for before being reintroduced to the wild.
|
|
Scott
Rains, USA:
“…Others have told the
story of the amazing wildlife and hearty food
served out in the pristine veldt. My memories
center on someone who has built a unique business
- driving the whole safari industry and South
African national tourism industry to greater
standards of excellence…”
|
|
Anthony & Maria Chapman, Suffolk:
It seems a long time since we parted company at Jo'burg airport, but our memory of that excellent safari you gave us lives on.
|
|
Joan & Suzanne Peck, UK:

the great trip in Kruger and that you all are
great people. More of you in the world...that
will change a lot...Ans
I enjoyed my holiday so much. You both were so
nice to me and so very helpful. The place where
you live is so beautiful I will tell people who
will go to South Africa all about you. I hope
you are well and have good summer weather...Thanks
again and love, Marja

...It was indeed great to meet you in Cape Town.
I really love South Africa and I was all happy
with how you and Alfie accomplished the trip.

Paul,
Gea and Roan van't Sant, Holland:
...We would like to thank you for making it possible
for us to do this great trip...The help and care

|
Michael,
Amy & Rob, UK:
...I want to say a huge thank you to you all for
making Michael's safari dream a wonderful success!
I have spoken to the team that went with him, and
they said that he is still talking about it all
the time and seems in great spirits. ..everything
ran really smoothly and the tour guide (Alfie) was
brilliant...
|
|
Eva
& Mike Derera, Hungary:
…importantly to thank you both so very much
for making this holiday possible, enjoyable, memorable
and great fun. One word covers it: awesome!!...A
true group of friends said their farewells at the
end and we do intend to keep in contact...many thanks
again and God bless you and the wonderful work you
do...…
|
|

Jaine Brock, UK:
…emailing is completely different now that
I have met you.:)...
I just wanted to thank you both from the bottom
of my heart for such a wonderful holiday. I really
don’t know where to begin to thank you as
you made my life come alive again…
|
|
Caroline,
Doreen & Ken, UK:
…Caroline (formerly a teacher of science)
has had MS for many years but told us that she wanted
to have the experience of seeing, hearing, smelling
and even touching the African wildlife at first
hand. All of this was made possible for her and
ourselves. The fact that she, and others who were
with us, had to use wheelchairs, in no way detracted
from the joy of being there.
|
|

Rachel
& Daniel, UK:
...This year (2007) is our second trip with Epic
Enabled...we enjoyed it so much that we had to repeat
it!...Epic Enabled organise everything and we've
learnt that each time is different, and special...
With this in mind, we will be returning!.
|
|
Jan
& Keith Parsley,
UK: ...what a great
time we had last month, thank you Alfie for a wonderful
experience...It was obvious that Alfie had expended
considerable time and effort into developing a truly
disabled friendly tour...Alfie's constant attention
to detail, and seemingly inexhaustible energy that made
the trip even more special...Once again thank you for
a truly 'Enabled' holiday... |
|

Toyah
Wordsworth, UK:
...I enjoyed every single minute of the holiday, it
was an experience of a lifetime and one I'll never forget.
I still can't believe that I was less than a metre away
from a Lion or that I fed a Hippo which is something
I never thought i'd do.
I'd like to thank you all for making me feel so welcome
and if you are ever in England feel free to look me
up. But I think I'll see you back in Africa first...
|
|
Jonathan
Toogood, UK:
...The holiday was truly an amazing experience. Like
many other people I have adventure stories when I was
younger, and you never think you will be in that situation
yourself, even less when you are disabled. The Epic
Enabled provided a real opportunity to experience a
sense of adventure... |
|

Sheila, Faith & Lori, USA:
Thanks to both Alfie and Sabine for the wonderful safari
for my sister and I. We both enjoyed it so much! You
folks are both awesome along with Joshua! It's very
difficult to come back to work and back to the real
world from the bush, again thanks for the trip of a
lifetime! Faith & Sheila
We made it home fine but the best part of the trip was
the tour with you and Alfie and of course your wonderful
and handsome assistant Joshua. I have been recommending
your trip to everyone. Lori |
|

Lena, Mona, Ulla & Zdena, Sweden:
One month is already gone since we had our fantastic
holiday. I have been dazed with all things we saw. Thank
you very much for making our trip a memory for life. |
|
Pia
Schmid, Switzerland:
A tour to the animal kingdom Kruger National Park sounded
for me, as a wheelchair user, far away - until I heard
of Epic Enabled. Tours for wheelchair users into the
wild! ... I will book another tour with Epic Enabled
as this was a fantastic Experience and you can’t
miss out on such highlights in life!. |
|
Coll
& Denise Sparks, Australia:
...Nothing was too much trouble for you, Alfie, and
you made it so much easier for both Denise and me than
I expected it would be... I really thought that this
would be my last safari, but after our experience with
Epic, that might not be the case… |
|

George,
Jane & Stewart, Australia:
...Whenever anybody asked George what he thought of
the trip all he could say was "perfect"… |
|

Da
Wielewaal,
Holland:
...I've talked to all of the disabled people of our
group and also the volunteers, and we all agreed on
one thing: This was our best holiday ever!!! Thanks
for an unforgettable experience!... |
|
Sophtie Smith, UK:
…I had a fantastic time - not only the whole
safari experience but also I had forgotten how I love
getting to know other people, so being able to do that
was just the icing on the cake!
Also big thanks to Alfie for all his hard work - cooking,
driving, organising, etc - and making sure we all had
an incredible experience. The opportunity to go on safari
and also make some good friends was unbeatable. It has
spurred me on more now with the need to change my life… |
|
Moira
& Bess ,
New Zealand: …The tour was extremely well
organized and planned – Impi – the truck
was comfortable and had every conceivable piece of equipment
hidden away... Alfie had a great understanding of what
was required for people with disabilities – yet
treated everyone as the individual that they are, affording
them respect and dignity…
Would love to come again – a dream come true –
which sounds clichéd but is fact. |
|
Charlie
Trautman & Family,
USA: …Believe it or not, for the first time,
the whole family took a trip together outside of the
US. ..A safari is a great way to experience the wild
with your family and we HIGHLY recommend it if you ever
consider it… |
|
Heather
Manktelow, UK: (POEM)
…Epic Enabled did us proud,
Adaptive equipment they provided,
To help our wildest dreams come true,
- In their safe hands we were guided... |
…He specialises
in safari trips
To empower the disabled,
Helping people to push the boundaries
And become more enabled... |
|
Nicki
Conway, England: …when
I saw the epic-enabled advert I thought wow yes please,
quite expecting to be told I am too disabled. But I
was accepted on Alfie's tour in August 2005 and had
an absolutely brilliant time… |
|
Scott & Denise Mc Pherson, USA:
Our trip to Africa was the greatest adventure of our
lifetime and we’d like to thank both of you for
helping make it happen. The trip to Kruger/Tshukudu
was wonderful and it was a great group to travel with
as well. Thanks for being our guide Alfie. |
|
Bill
& Carol Randall (www.access-able.com),
USA: …I wanted to thank you for allowing us
to participate on one of your Safaris. It definitely
ranks right up at the top of one of the greatest experiences
of our lives… |
|
Margaret
Hides, UK:
…The eight-day holiday turned out to be all we
could have wished for...Well-run in my experience, I
found nothing to beat it on a scale of fair value pricing
and willing assistance…You move in an awesome
world of close encounters with the kingdom of wild animals.
From the safety of your sturdy safari vehicle you never
know which to grab first - the camera or binoculars…every
new day starts with the adventure of wondering what
wonderful animals you will encounter next...leaving
only silence and a feeling that you have been part of
the mystery of wilderness… |
|
Wicked
World Tour,
Scotland: … Our trip to South Africa was
undoubtedly very dependent on the generous service provide
by Epic Enabled…We would not hesitate in recommending
their company to any disabled travellers and will cherish
the memories we hold of our month in South Africa… |
|
Rene
De Laat,
Holland: …The adaptations and/or facilities?
- Disabled people get special attention everywhere in
the Game Reserves of South Africa. And as I heard, even
more attention than in 'disabled-paradise' the United
States. Even an adapted bath in the middle of the bush
is possible… …The organisation behind
this trip? - You won't find a better one... |
|
Ben
Pickard,
United Kingdom: …Never in my wildest dreams
did I think I’d be able to describe the wilds
of South Africa as a suitable place for a wheelchair
user to go and enjoy, how wrong I was… …
Epic has built the bridge for anyone to enjoy nature
at its most thrilling… |
|
Karen
Krimberg,
South Africa: …I rode off into the red African
dawn in a truck so imaginatively and ingeniously converted
that every disabled person on the tour wanted one…
And then I will tell you that I was in a place where
my crutches did not impede my being able to touch a
cheetah. That I stroked him until he purred…The
Epic adventure will not heal you or enable you. But
it will empower you. And that is a priceless thing to
have - empowerment... |
|
David
Colley,
United Kingdom: …By this time it was starting
to sink in that here we were, this group of people with
mobility needs, doing a safari in the same way as non-disabled
people: travelling in a truck, sleeping in tents, cooking
over open fires, helping each other if there was a problem.
I loved it... |
|
Sonja Venter, South Africa: …The
next morning very early we went for a morning drive
down to the dam to had a look at an elephant that was
for me a big big experience to hold the elephant and
the elephant loved our truck. I will never forget that
special moment… |
|
Nick Irish, South Africa: …We saw
a great many interesting birds and animals as we drove
about on our viewing vehicle, but quite my favourite
was the young orphaned leopards that behaved like big
playful cats and let us pet them… |
|
Sonja Botha, South
Africa:
…This trip was a fantastic experience and a highlight
in my life. The success of the trip was to a large extend
due to the expertise of the staff which I really wish
to compliment… |
