This
year (2007) is our second trip with Epic Enabled.
Last year we did the Kruger tour, and enjoyed
it so much that we had to repeat it!
Epic Enabled organise everything. You are met
at the airport; taken to the hotel; and transported
to the Kruger. In the Kruger each site we spent
time in was exceedingly accessible. Tents and
cottages have ramped access, with very good
bathroom facilities everywhere (and Alfie will
provide shower hoses and ramps if needed). With
the facilities being so good (thanks to persistent
prompting from Epic!) you find that you can
relax and enjoy the joys of the Kruger. In addition
to elephant, buffalo, wildebeest, baboon, rhino,
and all the antelope, you can see truly magical
things. Last year, 2006, the highlights in the
Kruger were Wild Dog and a Sable. This year
we saw a Leopard, who walked across a dry river
bed, posed, and then walked off!
Outside the Kruger, we stayed in a game reserve,
where we had close contact with lion, cheetah,
and porcupines! We visited a Shangaan Village,
a Cheetah Rehabilitation Centre and we went
to see Jessica, the hippo. I will never forget
the gentleness with which a 6 year old hippo
drank from a bottle which I held in my hands.
The benefit of going with Epic is that if you
have a problem, there is someone there to help.
(Alfie helped me out with a temperamental wheelchair
charger, which turned out to just have an over
anxious owner!)
We've visited the Kruger twice now, and we've
learnt that each time is different, and special.
With this in mind, we will be returning!
